The PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor (OWSI) program is the final step in becoming a PADI Instructor. It enables PADI Assistant Instructors and recreational scuba instructors certified through other certification organizations to become PADI Instructors. The program provides an overview of the PADI System of diver education and prepares candidates for success as a PADI Instructor.

Prerequisites:
Minimum Age: 18
Certified diver for at least six months
Have a minimum of 100 logged dives to become a PADI Instructor (You can begin training as one with 60 logged dives)
Proof of CPR and first aid training within the last 24 months
