T Wing System
Daiwa's T-Wing System solves an age old problem with baitcasting reel levelwind systems.
The "T" aperture allows line to flow freely through the wide top section on outcast, reducing the normally sharp angles and friction that slow line flowing through a narrow aperture when exiting the reel.
For retrieve, line drops into the narrow, lower channel of the T wing for even distribution across the spool width.
Hook Up Casting
When the clutch is depressed, the hood lifts slightly for casting, allowing line to flow freely through the wide, upper part of the "T".
Hood Down Retrieve
On retrieve, the hood automatically lowers, channeling line through the narrow, lower part of the "T" for precision line winding.
Reduced Line Angle – Reduced Casting Friction
With ordinary levelwind reels, line coming off the spool ends is forced through the line guide at a sharp angle. The result is casting friction, especially when the line guide is parked on one side of the reel. The T-Wing's wider aperture means reduced angles and less line friction from any position.
Lower Profile – Less Casting Friction
On some ordinary reels, line slaps against the upper frame crossbar. T-Wing reels are lower than most, yet their design eliminates the frame crossbar for reduced line friction.
Superior Anti-Backlash Control
Superior Anti-Backlash Control Three-position switch lets you instantly select the right amount of smooth magnetic braking for changing conditions and lure types. And each position can be fine tuned to your own casting style.

3 Ranges of Smooth Magnetic Braking
Centrifugal force extends the spool's inductor cup into the flux between two sets of magnets to create the braking effect. Magforce 3D varies how far into the magnetic flux the cup can move, giving three ranges of control. A clickadjust dial lets you fine tune the braking by varying the flux within each range.
MAX BRAKE
Magnets are shifted towards the spool's inductor cup to provide maximum magnetic braking – very helpful when casting into a wind or with big, wind-resistant baits.
ALL AROUND
Slightly reducing the inductor cup's movement into the magnetic field provides a reduced braking action at maximum speed that backs off rapidly as the spool slows. The spool starts faster and keeps spinning longer – perfect all-around setting for most applications.
LONG CAST
In this mode the magnets move the furthest distance from the inductor rotor, so magnetic braking is minimized for maximum spool speed – great for longer distance from topwater and finesse lures, plus allowing maximum lure freefall after splashdown.
Starts & Spins Longer
AUTOMATIC MAGNETIC BRAKE MagforceZ is the latest generation of Daiwa's unique magnetic anti-backlash control for the experienced angler. It combines the best attributes of old-fashioned mechanical braking with today's advanced magnetic braking technology. MAGFORCE-Z LETS THE SPOOLSTART FASTER AND SPIN LONGER Because magnetic braking is only applied at maximum spool speed, the spool reaches a higher peak speed and remains spinning longer.
As you start a cast, spool's inductor cup is retracted from the magnets – so there's no magnetic effect to slow the spool. Start-up is lightning fast.
As spool approaches maximum speed, inductor cup automatically moves into the gap between the magnets to apply smooth magnetic braking and prevent spool overrun.
As spool begins to slow, the inductor cup automatically retracts from the magnets – so the spool keeps spinning longer, unhampered by magnetic braking
Last up to 12 times longer
Daiwa's CRBB bearings are specially treated stainless steel and last up to 12 times longer than standard stainless steel bearings in a corrosive saltwater environment.
Daiwa v Ordinary
Daiwa CRBB, sealed to shield out sand, fine grit, salt crystals and other abrasives.
Ordinary "corrosion resistant" bearing, open to saltwater and grit.
Less Wasted Energy
Moves the paddles closer to the rod's centerline. The result is less wobble of the rod and reel in your hand as you crank. That means less wasted energy – a more powerful retrieve.
Ordinary "corrosion resistant" bearing, open to saltwater and grit.
