Makaira 2-speed offshore reels came out last year, and by November I was busting 200-pound yellowfin with my MK-20II. I also like the Solterra-15CS. It's agile, graphite framed offshore reels will fit the bill for smaller model tuna, and a huge range of offshore species.

Had a chance to break away from work while in Florida last week for an afternoon of fishing. We had a great experience fishing catching about 30 mixed Snook, Redfish, Jack Crevelle and big Speckled Trout. The Trio drag systems were no match keeping the Snook out of the mangroves and the Jacks from breaking us off on their blistering runs to open water. If you are ever in the Estero Bay area on the West side of Florida... make sure to stop by for a day of fishing that you surely won't forget.

Holy Moly...what a fish! It's a mega lake trout! Taking a close swipe at the WY state record, this fish is something to behold (and a whole lot to hold!). I use downriggers in addition to jigging for these trophies. I have a new Clarion. The Tension Spool Control system on Clarion and Catalina reels provide a secondary drag system that governs the reel while it's in freespool. Functionally, it turns downriggers into an easy, one-handed operation.
